Overview

Prologue stores your library data on your devices and connects directly to the Plex or Audiobookshelf servers you configure. Prologue does not store your library data on our servers.

Data stored on your device

  • Library metadata, playback progress, bookmarks, history, stats, and Reading List
  • Downloads and cached artwork
  • Server connection details and any custom headers you add
  • Account identifiers and access tokens for Plex and Audiobookshelf
  • Widget and watch sync data

Plex and Audiobookshelf connections

  • Prologue connects directly to your Plex or Audiobookshelf servers.
  • Plex playback status is reported back to your Plex server.
  • Prologue stores access tokens on-device to authenticate requests.
  • Prologue does not store your library data on our servers.
  • Prologue sends client information to Plex such as app version, device model, device name, platform, and a per-device identifier.

We do not store or handle your Plex or Audiobookshelf passwords.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync, Prologue stores the following in your iCloud account via CloudKit:

  • Book progress
  • Bookmarks and bookmark notes
  • Playback sessions
  • Listening history events
  • Reading List

This data is stored in your iCloud account and governed by Apple’s policies.

Analytics

Prologue collects pseudonymous usage data to improve the app. This data does not include your Plex or Audiobookshelf credentials. Data collected includes basic device information, app version, and usage events such as listening sessions and purchases.

Prologue also collects Apple Ads attribution information, such as campaign, ad group, keyword, and ad identifiers and whether a download followed an ad interaction. This information is associated with pseudonymous device, usage, and purchase data to measure campaign performance. Attribution tokens are processed temporarily and are not stored.

Crash reporting

Prologue uses Sentry for crash reporting. Crash reports may include device information, OS version, app version, and a Sentry installation ID. Sentry’s privacy policy is here.

Logs and diagnostics you choose to share

  • If you generate a debug archive, it contains recent app logs from the last 72 hours.
  • Logs can include server URLs and IP addresses.
  • Logs do not include access tokens.

If you export your database from Settings, Prologue sanitizes the export by removing tokens and replacing connection URLs.

Audiobookshelf server invites

If you choose to share an Audiobookshelf server invite, the invite can include server URL, account name, custom headers, and access tokens depending on the share method you select. Only share invites with people you trust.

Your choices

  • Sign out of Plex or Audiobookshelf to remove access tokens from the device.
  • Disable iCloud Sync to stop CloudKit uploads.
  • Delete the app to remove local data.
